Hey everyone, I am way confused- I just read this message re: another HH movie. The date on this is Dec 06. Are they seriously making another series of HH episodes? Or am I just letting the sugar from the cherry pie I had at lunch go to my brain and seeing things?

Thanks,
Margaret

Hello wkennedyjr, I am afraid right now there are no plans for A&E to make HH4 even though they own the rights to the books and some of the legal hurdles have been ironed out.

Most of us HH fans hang out over at http://www.horatians.org/forum/ where you are welcome to join us.

I guess I am not understanding any of this thread. Is there or is there not going to be more HH?

One think I can tell you all is that I have purchased the DVD's and everyone I let borrow them completely falls in love with the series.

The problem is that A&E is not marketing the series properly and there are tons of people out there who would watch if they only knew!

Please get us some info already!

Thank-you,

Sorry it took so long to answer this question, but it is even more important to note both Farscape and Firefly have both returned because of the fans hard work.

Farscape fans actually found the financing to produce the Mini-series "The Peacekeeper Wars." And Firefly fans rallied behind Joss Whedon to get "Seredity" (the full length theater movie) produced. Great Movie by the way.

It's all of what we want to do!!! If you note the amount of hits the HORNBLOWER discussion board is getting, it is a wonder why A&E hasn't already rethought their position.
But anyway, support the websites already out: scaryfangirl.com for example and write, email and pester everyone to GET ANOTHER MOVIE MADE!!!!!

It is a shame we may never meet El Supremo. Hornblower is brilliant and I personally find it disgraceful that A&E may not make any more episodes.

I was just curious, How did the Farscape fans find the financing or how did this come about? I know that there were petitions and so forth.

I am very new to the Horatio Hornblower series and like all here in these discussion boards, I have discovered a great production. The question is "Are there going to be anymore HH made?"
I really hope so. I am buying the books and have got my children interested in the stories, which is a very position thing. But I would really like to see another movie being made.

HOW CAN WE FIND OUT IF A&E IS GOING TO PRODUCE ANOTHER HH?

I think that as fans, we all need to post our desires to A&E. Maybe we will actually get a responce!!

If that doesn't work, there is always the doing what the fans for FARSCAPE (Sci-fi channel) did to get another movie. The fans actually found the financing and had the "Peacekeeper Wars" produced. What are your thoughts?

I would adore it if Meridian and A&E would come out with HH-IV, now that our hero is about to become Post Captain and a daddy. The books covering this Trafalgar period have a rather hiliarious episode at the beginning with Horatio on extended leave taking command of a wayward canal boat with family in tow and an equally funny backstory surrounding the official funeral barge of Lord Nelson (whose procession HH was commanded by the Admiralty to oversee) springing a serious leak and beginning to sink the fallen hero's body and all retainers into the Thames. :-D

His upcoming voyage to South America to foil the Spanish and begin British trade in some of the breakaway colonies in the Roaring 40's will introduce the true ladylove of his life ( ;) ), expand on Orrock's and Bush's roles, and make for some very lush and racy video footage.

I am rather amazed that Meridian-A&E didn't rush into production to have something ready for this 200th anniversary year of Trafalgar. (Maybe they have already, and they are launching a surprise volley on us in October. Wouldn't that be nice?!!!)

My very best regards to my many British friends over in the UK on this very grand year of celebrations. Huzzah! [Check out www.seabritain.co.uk. Some way cool things are happening all over the UK, with lots of Nelson exhibits, tall ships, reenactments etc. on tap. Be there or be square-rigged!]

I am coming over to give a couple of talks and to celebrate with some of my seafaring companions in early August in Scotland at the Interaction Conference to be held at their big convention center for five days. A number of our shipmates who came to Boston last year to help us out with Noreascon 4 are already planning to rendez-vous with us Americans (come over to the UK to return the favor) for pub crawls, to sing sea chanties, and to mess á la Doughty over that week. (Alas, I shall not be able to attend the Hornblower con in Portsmouth as well, since two trips to the UK in one year within months of each other are not in the budget, but I shall be there in spirit, anyway.) Looking forward to seeing my fellow and sister Hotspurs, Tonants, Indefatigables, etc. there,

Good idea, Hornblower and Trafalga maybe??? Maybe if they have given up on the Hornblower franchise for good they should go out with a bang, e.g. a full length movie of Hornblower at Trafalgar. Just an idea. Although i think that hornblower could really carry on doing well given the chance. there are many many more books to focus on, unlike sharpe which had reached its ultimate peak at the end.
