Actually there was plenty of discussion on the show boards. But oh my...we did have a ball on the Lounge. Those of us that chatted there were called Lounge Lizards. I loved it! They need to bring it back. And there was very little deleting. You had to have thick skin to post there. No whinning allowed. But there was fun to be had!! -- Stand up for what you believe in.....even if you have to stand alone.

To which my only reply was and is -- Oh devil! truth is better than much profit." --Thomas Henry Huxley

that's the perfect solution, actually. why on earth would they have changed it? probably because more people were enjoying posting to each other than were enjoying posting about the shows. A$E probably wanted to drive traffic to the shows' forums to be able to show to the advertisers "look how busy our show forums are"

kabol....this would all be fixed if A&E would put back up the old 'Lounge'...that was for all 'off topics' subjects. The discussions about the shows were left in tact. I thought it worked very well then. I don't see why it wouldn't work now. Just a thought.....from an old timer here. -- Stand up for what you believe in.....even if you have to stand alone.

i really don't understand why there can't be one or two topics on any given board devoted to controversial subject matter. obviously, everyone would need to abide by TOS (no simplistic name calling and personal attacks as has happened in so many topics -- which results a few posters who can't control what they type causing all the material in the topics to be deleted.) the topic could be clearly labeled so that if someone doesn't like controversial subject matter then they should not read the topic. on most of the AE forums there seem to be so many topics which are filled with people chit-chatting, trading recipes, discussing day-to-day things, giving out their personal information. that's all well and good, but should that be the majority subject matter when the main theme of a board is to discuss the shows? should there be separate areas at AE devoted to personal chitchat for the people who like to share their info publicly instead of keeping it to PM and/or email? also -- i'd like to wonder out loud at the apparent inability of moderators on the A$E forums to MOVE posts around instead of just deleting them. ie, when a topic gets hijacked, which happens often as we all know -- though certainly some topic-starting posters are more possessive of their topics than others -- why can't the "offending" posts be moved to a new topic? i think that it is highly unusual for a website run by a large TV network to not have the ability to move posts. instead these boards seem to rely on over-moderation (as in the PS forums), contributor report-abuse moderation (highly unreliable for the most part), and overall censorship. why not revamp the moderation process on these boards?? one can do a search for complaints about deletions and see that it has obviously been an ongoing problem on the boards -- all of them -- for quite some time. -- Edited by kabol at 04/23/2009 4:04 PM PDT
