One other fact I forgot to say.... John McCain didn't fight the fires, you're right. He did, however, go back toward his aircraft to try to rescue his Plane Captain. He did this inspite of shrapnel injuries caused when one of the bombs attached to his aircraft dropped to the deck and exploded. Also, he didn't leave FORRESTAL to go to "Daddy's" ship. At the time Admiral McCain was stationed in London as Commander, Naval Forces Europe. The younger McCain DID however volunteer to transfer over to VA-163 aboard USS ORISKANY so that he could stay in the fight. Learn something about Naval history before you decide to slight someone that has paid as high a price for our national security as John McCain has.

I promise to try to be civil, inspite of the drivel I just read. Get your facts straight before you write something. John McCain is a HERO. Anyone who can survive a POW camp for five & a half years deserves to have every person in this country call him a hero. John McCain wasn't a perfect pilot. However, having flown with the best and worst pilots in the Navy, I can tell you he was better than most. By the way, McCain's A-4 was hit by a missile that was inadvertently launched from an F-4 across the flight deck from him. That's what caused the fire aboard USS FORRESTAL. How being that can be turned into his fault is absolutely beyond me. I guess he should have anticipated a stray static electricity charge launching a missile that hit his aircraft. Once again I am forced to say "Get your facts straight" before you decide to malign someone.

McCain was probably the worst pilot in Naval history. Who else could lose 5 planes within 90 days, and blow up an aircraft carrier? My high school buddy, Richard Owens was below decks on the Forrestal when flaming jet fuel poured down, and burned him alive. McCain did nothing to help fight the fires, or rescue the injured. His daddy took him over to his ship out of harms way, and left the less fortunate there to fight the fires of hell. McCain a hero? Yep, in Hanoi!
