Hi..I read in your comments that you taped Knights of the South Bronx. I've been trying to obtain a copy for our Chess Club in Hornell, NY with little success. Any chances of sending me a copy? Marjean

As a High School Teacher, I was inspired by this film. Knights of the South Bronx inspired me to do some research on the effects of chess cognition, especially in children. To my surprise, I found that many studies from around the world have been done on this topic. Many of which have concluded that chess develops critical thinking skills, while showing an increase in Math and English test scores. For more information in regards to these studies, visit http://edutechchess.com/whychess.html. Great job A&E! My only question is when can I purchase the DVD?

As an employee of the correctional facility where part od the movie was filmed, I was a little disappointed to see that absolutely no credit was given to the staff at the facility who assisted in making this film the success that it was. There was no mention, either, of the name of the facility in the closing credits. In the future, for myself at least, I would think twice about volunteering my time to assist with any further productions that are filmed at my institution, since a simple credit would be too much to ask.

I don't usually comment to networks about their programming, but I have to tell you how much my partner and I enjoyed this film! We were so moved by the story and the excellent acting - Ted Danson always brings a lot of heart to his roles, and those kids were terrific!

Thanks for being brave enough to air a movie about kids playing chess!

I'm fortunate to be able to record movies such as this one and watch them at my leisure and that's exactly what I did with this movie.

I applaud A & E for their foresight in bringing this wonderful story to the small screen. Ted Danson as well as the entire cast; adults and children alike were absolutely fantastic.

As for profanity, I'm sorry, I didn't notice it...and I usually do; I guess I no longer live within a bubble. I'm sorry, for a teacher who believes a little bit of profanity that may have been mentioned is offensive, perhaps they should burst their little bubble and come out into the real world, because the kids nowadays, know a great deal more offensive language than we ever did when we were kids!

This was a heartwarming TV movie, it showed everyone what it can be like when someone cares about our youth and takes a profound interest in their well being.

Way to go A & E... please continue to entertain us with the powerful programs such as "The Knights of the South Bronx"!

I thought KSB to be a great movie. I am an avid chess player, however a terrible teacher of it. My hat goes off to David MacEnulty having the patients and determination never to give up on the children as their chess teacher/teacher and mentor (:x loved your cameo at the end of the movie).

The acting was great both Ted Danson and the children gave convincing performances. I concur with the messages on here, that we need more movies and TV shows that are of an inspirational manner.

Ok, now for a little criticism. The shot is only a quick one, but in the chess world it is a big deal. I am talking about the last part of the movie when they are at the Nationals and Jimmy is about to start his game. He is leaning on the table looking at his chess pieces, and dedicating the game to his father Cokey. The QUEEN is on the wrong side of the King!! If he is playing white, which he was, the QUEEN would and should have been on the left of the KING and not the right as it is in the movie...:_|...

Ahhhh, now that I've got that off my chess. I loved the movie anyway and I am sure that the chess world watching will love it too for its inspiration and I am sure its success of implementing more chess programs into a school setting.

P.S Another feel good movie, with a chess theme
"Looking for Bobby Fisher."

Thanks Sherry F

This was an excellent program. Ted Danson did an excellent acting job. The children were also great. It was on a par with Stand Up and Deliver. It was one of the best movies of the year. There should be more shows like this on tv. Keep up the good work.

Great movie. Thanks very much to A&E for televising this. I really enjoyed it. Now I wish it was a weekly TV series or that there was a part II on the way.

It was televised at 10 pm in Hawaii, and I wonder if a large part of the audience is already in bed. The movie's language seemed about PG rated. I don't recall any real curses. One of the children said "butt breath" at one point. Pretty similar to the type of language that was used in the move ET many years ago, if you recall. Is this what has the teacher above upset? I think it might be best for parents to individually choose if they want there kids to see it. I am a pediatrician and some of my fellow pediatricians have kids interested in chess, but I am not sure if I should tell them to have there kids see the movie. I was concerned about the violence and that it might scare them. Also I wondered if parents would not want there kids to see movies where there are issues such as drugs/stealing etc. However, I think kids are smarter than we think, and the message of the movie is good. I would not hesitate to show it to my own kids (if I had kids), but it should be an individual decision each parent should make. Anyway if it is broadcast again, whether you show it to your kids or not - make sure you see it yourself! The story is great. Also Ted Danson and the child actors were fantastic.

I felt this was one of the best presentations we have watched on TV this season. We need more programing such as this to combat the "trash" seen on network tv. If someone thinks the language was offensive than they are not in the real world. Keep up this kind of programming and advertise it so we know it is available.

Knights of South Bronx

I watched this with interest as a middle school teacher in a school that is struggling with some of the same issues. I had hoped we could acquire this film for our school when it comes out in DVD, but unfortunately there were a few unnecessary uses of profanities that make it unusable in a school setting. I am very disappointed and would like to get the word out to the producers that they missed an opportunity to sell this show to many schools who would have acquired it to show to their students. It was much like "Stand and Deliver" but for a younger audience. But the language (which was really unnecessary) makes it inappropriate for our school.
