That was not the only mistake made on Napoleon. It was related that years later Napoleon's ashes were returned to France. Suggesting he was cremated. He was not. In fact the good condiction of his body indicated arsenic poisoning. Its been pointed out that ashes could also mean his remains. Well how many people know that??? I think of ashes as being just that ashes. Wonder how many other mistakes A&E made???

dbk, you may be very correct in that wrong editing may be at fault here. but having said that...it wasn't just the date that was wrong. the entire scene was wrong. this film would have you believe that only one person was in the room with him when he died when, in fact, the room was full of people. in addition to the staff, his aides were there, Bertrand-his wife and his children were there..... i appreciate the fact that this was "TV...NOT HISTORY" as one person stated. however, it was presented by A&E, NOT Fox, NBC, CBS, ABC etc...so it should have a much higher standard. also, even for "TV" it would have been nice to get some of the basic facts right.

I think that you are making too much of this mistake. Over all the show was excellent. I hope for your sake that you learn to be more tolerant of others. If you do not, I predict you will be disappointed often.

Exactly! Maybe, and I'm not advising this, but maybe get an insignificant date wrong, but the year the man dies? Craziness

I'm not sure the original filmmakers made the mistake. Because of the severe cutting, there could have been more scenes at St Helena, and it may be that the butchers who cut the film were the ones who inserted the incorrect "5 Years Later" title. It would have been as easy to simply insert a title that said "1821".

The show had a big mistake! His death was 1821 NOT 1823! They had Napoleon on St. Helena and showed a date of 1818 and he was with the young English girl. They then showed a caption of "5 years later" and Nappy dies. Hmmm... 1818+5+ 1823!!!! I thought they had someone to check these things out. I don't have my Masters/PHD yet in military history but I caught this error. Man, pay me a couple hundred bucks and I can correct this problem. Han
