Brazo and Rap, Really good answers. Another adage was people get the government they deserve. Unfortunately, we, who can read and think, are stuck with what the masses fall for. We have not given education the respect it deserves and now we have a nation of functionally illiterate people who does not read nor investigate claims. Our paper has a policy that they do not post ads by political parties the week before the election. However, a rich right wingnut bought an entire page that ran for two days before the election. His thrust is the Republican party is the party of family values. I think there should be legal reprisals for half truths and downright lies. What kind of people have we become that we respond to hate campaign ads?

Doesn't anyone subscribe anymore to the adage "You're only as worthy as your opponent" ??

I would like to see a rule forbidding new ads less than 2 weeks before an election. It is common practice for a well funded campaign to come out with all sorts of false slandering ads that do not allow the person slandered enough time to respond. I cannot remember which network it was, but one of the networks had a series where they proved, or disproved, claims made in political ads during the Nov. election. I really liked it. All lies (and half truths) should be exposed. That being said, I have never made my decision based on ads. That is not the smart way to decide how to vote.

Mrs. B, One of my news magazines (Newsweek or Time) said the negative ads are the ones that stick with the public. The public should be absolutely ashames.

In the recent campaign, I didn't see a single ad that did not bash an opposing candidate. Very sad. I think it is a reflection of our public. IMO we no longer want to take a stand for what we believe in. We only want to criticize the beliefs of others.

After I listened to the debates, I didn't vote for him. I didn't vote for him the second time or the first. What makes me feel so bad is the nation no longer pays attention to what they do or say, just whether they will help them gain their personal aims. If some one is worried he might not be allowed to own an assault weapon or someone else might get an abortion, that is what they vote on, not intelligence.

I, for one, did not vote for him the first time, and I definitely did not vote for him the second time. I can't believe the American voters were dumb enough to re-elect him.

Branson, absolutely. Since the inception of our government, people with money have been trying to take it over. Never have they succeeded like the present. What we have in there, now, are people who care less about the United States and more about the bottom line. Their profits have been obscene.

The only place we should hope to ever see his picture is on the cover of the FBI's List of Most Dangerous Felons in America. Because frankly he is the biggest treasonist felon in America.

Pray that he falls into the pile of crap he put this nation in. Have you seen his picture on the latest issue of Newsweek? Picture that as a portrait in the hall of presidents.

Saw a sticker on a car in front of the church today...."Have you prayed for your president today?" Since I did not know whose car it was, I will respond publicly. Yes, I pray every day that he will fall into a pit of bull manure....where he will be right at home.

Pic, You are right. He should never have been there. the pain, I felt, was because the voters chose him, or at least enough of them that it was easy to fix the election. I watched the debates. The man didn't come across as smart enough to lead a country. He chose rumsfeld, a man who had disagreed with bush the elder on not going into Iraq and deposing Hussein. Look at what that move has cost us. At least bush the elder knew when to stop before it cost so many lives, both in Iraq and American lives. From the debates, I remember one of bush's statements. A question was asked to both him and Gore about whether we would go into another nation with military force on a peace keeping mission. Bush's answer was that we were not nation builders. We would only go in for economic reasons. I hope the new congress will delve into the war profiteering and lies.

No I am not and if you are I feel for you. Bush is a nightmare to this nation . He should be removed now , really should have never been there. No respect for him at all.
