I re-watched "Evans" yesterday, to try and clear up what I couldn't follow the first time I watched. I got a little more but was still muddled about the two sets of children. I don't think they explained it well, but
SPOILER
I guess Moira and Roger were children of Sylvia and the first Mr Savage, and the other two, children of her and the second. Mr S.
How Miss M cottoned on to all of this is still quite a mystery in itself.

I'm not sure whether you got a Lewis yesterday, 'cause we in Pittsburgh did not. Pledge break.
I did see the previews for the Lewis and it looks like one they aired last year. I will need to double check to make sure, though. I did like the few that they have aired so far and will check it out when it airs.

That snake was a little over the top for me. And not one murder weapon but two. That was a riviting ending.
As for the climax, things were sorta dull and all of a sudden, bam! All that drama. Maybe if the center section was shorter and they brought the action up closer it may have helped this eppy.

Pauline M. is a fine looking lady. So much better with the current long, straight hair.
pghfan, there's just something missing. Yes, she looks the part but maybe if they gave her more lines or something.
S. Bond is also the new Miss Moneypenny in the latest Bonds. Least she was in the second from last. Bonds aren't quite my thing but I did see her in the one.
Nurse in Evans was also in The Tudors as Anne Boyleyn. She did a much better job in that mini-series. If you haven't, please see The Tudors. Excellent!

I thought the lovely settings were the only good part of this one! Apart from the usual good-actors-doing-their-best-with-this-material. I did recognize Samantha Bond, tho it took a while. And Warren Clarke, of Dalziel & Pascoe, and wasn't that Ron's dad from Harry Potter as the orchid-lover?
I read the book fairly recently but still got lost in this plot. I kept recognizing bits of the old plot here & there, but not enough to make sense of things. I remembered whodunit but had trouble figuring out who was who in this version!
I agree that Frankie was not nice to Miss Marple, altho I did like her well enough before she turned snippy. Bobby was as bland as Miss Marple, and clueless besides. And didn't they change his last name? I'm thinking it was Jones in the book. I think the Welsh setting was also emphasized in the book because it meant Evans was such a common name in the area.
That snake startled me. I'm pretty sure there were no pit vipers in the book!
I didn't see the version from years ago, but I'm thinking I might like to watch it now just to see a fairly faithful version of the story.

ha - glad I'm not the only one who found strange gaps in this production. I'm confused as to how things got from point A to Z in the story. Didn't see the end coming at all. I'll admit, I was interrupted a few times while watching, but didn't think it was enough to cause me to lose the thread entirely in spots. And I don't know if I have the motivation to watch it all over again. Still, I enjoyed the setting and tone enough to be standing in line for the next one.

I really don't know what to think about this thing. I frankly will have to watch it again as I have no idea what happened and why.
Yes, MC, I am getting a little tired of Miss M being so bland as well. She's got the look down right, but needs some personality--Miss M sure has some--let's see it!
Did anyone else recognize Samantha Bond as Mrs. Savage, who was with Joan Hickson's A Murder is Announced, as Julia Simmons?

Hmmm, I'm not too sure about this latest batch of Marples. I'm starting to miss McEwan's quirks and def. long for Hickson's steel trap mind and sherrys.
I didn't like the young gal protag. Too snippy and like many young gals, sort of dissed our gal, Marple. Again MM came off as bland and there's just something missing there. I started dozing off again. Never did that on previous A.C.'s. Least not that I can remember.
How about you?
