I saw the original movie, which even way back then was a bit scary. This remake should be excellent!

I, like so many others, also read the book about 35 years ago.

I usually boycott movies whose trailers are shown so many times a day that they drive me crazy, yet I do intend to watch this one.

The main point of my message is: how can A&E air a trailer with such an obvious mistake in the dialogue by Ricky Schroeder?

Michael Crichton wrote the book. I think it was his first one. I believe it was 1969.

I read the book years and years ago! But I dont recall who wrote it! Anyone know?

Ive seen the old movie The Andromeda Stran and it was really good and scary at that time.

With Ridley Scott directing this new version, its probably going to be great!

Can't wait to see it!

One of the recent posts on the website "What Happened In Piedment?" talks about President Scott as the President of the U. S. The only people who wouldn't question the truth of the site after reading this are those who thrive on conspiracy theories and those who are just so wrapped up in the plot of this whole thing to notice. That or they they just want to believe it so badly that their mind blocks out common sense so that the obvious clues to being a scifi promo like War of the Worlds are completely lost on them.

I must comment on this. I saw one of the commercials advertising this. It was the one with the man with the chainsaw. After I saw it, I just had to go to the website. Well I don't think it's a good advertisement bc people could really believe that its real and not some movie. it's just not right to mislead people. but other than that i can't wait to see it!

OK, I see your point, but still. If you go to the website, and go to "Terms" at bottom of page, it states in there it is related to the movie.

Also, I said "mini-series" because the other reply kepts saying "tv show" and there IS a difference between a tv show and a movie/mini-series.

I like the idea behind the promotions for this movie, but for those who may not have the resources to watch the video clips or listen to the audio it can be troublesome. I've been reading the "blog" since mid April and I wasn't able to watch or listen to any of the clips until recently. Once I did, however, it became abundantly clear that this was a marketing gimmick. It also helped that before I was able to play the clips, I looked up one of the names that was given in association with the whole thing and found out he was a character. I had read the book years ago but it didn't dawn on me until I saw who that character was that it was following the plot line of this story.

But no matter how annoyed this promo tactic has made me I still want to see the movie when it comes out.

Also, a mini-series is just a movie split into smaller parts, like (and I know this wasn't aired on A&E but it is a good example) Tin Man.

I disagree, I think their marketing of this upcoming MINI-SERIES is wonderful. I was not aware that the story was set in Piedmont, and the ads on tv had me captivated trying to figure out what it was all about. I have been visiting the What Happened In Piedmont website almost daily, reading the blogs. It has me anxious for the movie to air. Kudos to A & E for coming up with this whole idea. It is definitely a great way to gain interest from those, like me, who are online a lot, and very into blogs.

If the website scared you, I would suggest not watching the movie. Also, I do not believe most people are taking it as seriously as you are. I knew, before my first visit to the blog, that it was an advertisement for something, whether that was a movie or perhaps even a video game. Relax, and don't take everything so seriously.

By what I've been reading after googleing the "what happened in Piedmont?" ad you keep running, it appears to be an ad for this upcoming movie, etc.
I think it was very unfair of you to "fix" that website to represent an authentic person, events, phone message, etc.
Why would anyone go to that length to promote a tv show? Scaring the daylights out of people? How unfair to the general public. People without access to the internet to search for information to get answers may truly be terrified. I have to say, I am an avid fan of A&E, but I really adhor this advertisement method that has been used for the "Piedmont" upcoming show and the "Andromeda" upcoming movie.
