Here's the link for Horatians (sans A&E's server slapped in front of it ). -uHf -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "D@mn it, man," said Hornblower, "would anyone out of Bedlam say a thing like that--far less write it?" --Hornblower and the Atropos

A&E, We're still waiting on an answer to this question. I know it has been raised in these parts many times before and upon my board name it will be raised many times again. There was a time when A&E was known widely for pruducing such high quality shows as the Hornblower films and I would encourage A&E to return to that type of programming. I find very little reason to watch A&E at the current time, given the current programming. Now, how about an answer, A&E? Is it possible that there will be more? For fans out there looking to discuss the Hornblower movies, there are alternatives to the shrinking discussion boards here at A&E (an unfortunate move on A&E's part, I believe), with one of those being: Hornblower heaven Be aware that A&E inserts its own boards at the start of any url. I haven't figured out how to fix this in the link, but you can eliminate everything before the www.horatians.org and reach the site with ease. Please join us there if you wish. At the same time, I believe it is important that we maintain a presence here, if for no other reason than to continue to prick the balloons of those who believe the path to success lies in bad reality television. Interesting historical questions...

Two things: In the Mutiny, (Captain Sawyer's falling apart in authoritarian regime), is something of a personal reflection of the greater societal struggle with republicanism (also referred to in The Wrong War)... This coming on the heels of the American Revolution, and of course the French. What is republicanism but mercantilism challening central authority at the dawn of the industrial revolution when opportunity came knocking for every man... Too, in Duty and Loyalty, the medievil concept of the debtors prison is shown still in existance, the very basis for contract law enforced in ancient ways.. (Wall Street must smile no doubt!)

Thanks for the welcome, uHf. You are a legend in these parts, I know. Game for another post card campaign? Or should we just make it a posting campaign? And Pollee, your knock-knock knowledge knocks one out of the park! Wonder if the Gottis would be willing to fund more Hornblower. It would be a good use of their money, IMHO... Hornblower or Die

Well, I thought I'd posted my last a couple of days ago, but I'll come out of retirement to agree with that! I hate cliff-hangers... There is, believe it or not, an appetite for quality adventure and drama shows. There are more great 'Hornblower' stories begging to be told, and a worldwide audience very keen to see them, and buy plenty of dvds, etc etc. That sounds like a recipe for making money, to me. The actors won't wait forever, though... (Thunderous hammering at door) *knock knock* A&E: Who's there? (Great chorus)Audience. A&E: Audience Who? (Even louder) Audience pining for more 'Hornblower'! (Sorry, couldn't resist that.) Cheers, Poll Love like a hobbit Exit, stage left.

When, oh when, will we get new movies?

Come on A&E, Duty left us with a pregnant Maria and a Hornblower promising to be a better husband and shocked into silence at the news of his impending fatherhood... Hasn't the pregnant pause in this wonderful series lasted long enough? HornblowerorDie Message was edited by HornblowerorDie at Mar 1, 2006 8:24 AM
