Hi Sherry. I see you're online right now. Would you like to share your story with us, maybe jump in and give us a chance to show you we may not be as you perceive us? I think many of us would like to hear your story and make you feel welcome here. If not, that's okay too.

Holey Moley Bill!!!!! TWO WEEKS??????? Every journey starts with one step!!!

As for fearing the computer, I'm with ya there, but just in fearing this board. Still shaky on the upswing from my antidepressants, can only read so much and then it's like I HAVE TO GO.

But wow, to read about your efforts ---- what a delight. If it ends today, well, okay, but you've set a precedent for yourself so you KNOW you can do it again. There's a friend of mine from here who said she could never get past the 3rd day of not using, and lo and behold, it's MONTHS now that she has stopped daily, habitual use. You have to start somewhere.

Good Luck dude. And I better not be the one referred to as SJB hater lololol.

Yo I'm going to go out on a limb.......Mrs. Denton, yes you have befriended me, and I'm honored. But please you have probably been reading this stuff for awhile and feel you know me. Ok, Cool. Ok but you tried to befriend me at a bad time. I have had problems, problems , problems......Plus I already have a large fan club to begin with LOL ..Yo sorry pregnant Sunkist, but I have advoided the computer as of late....The only modern convience(as in entertainment gadgets) I have used has been the dang TV. I've been hanging at the beach all day(HA, eat your hearts out landlocked fools !!!...No where in the U.S. rocks like the Jersey Shore in DA summertime) watching Tv and jotting down things....I have my reasons for fearing the computer. So don't take it personally...Jeez, I will contact you. But c'mon people if you just view and never post..and then all of sudden pop out and think I know you because you "know" me.....well I don't so...you get put at the bottom of the list...Shoot I haven't even harrassed SJB hater for days........And I like to harass her. Yeah I like ..... So ....Actually I haven't drank in over two weeks and I love it.....More on that..

Sherry, I am so glad you have spoken out about how you feel. Whether it seems appropriate or not, YOU SPOKE OUT. That's a huge step towards getting what you NEED, and I know for myself how very hard it can be to speak up, no matter how badly I am hurting.

I started watching Intervention long before I had any clue I COULD get into abstinence, alone, MUCH LESS reocvery. I didn't come to this site for support, I came to see if there was any information about one of the show's subjects.

What I found is a changed life, due HUGELY IN PART to this board, and the people on it. I'm not even sure how much of it ISN'T attributable to this site, but I am allowing for the Grace of God!!!

I stopped using solely because I wanted to test clean for jobs as I'm out of work. I was about six months abstinent when I got here, and recovery was a joke to even think about. My last suicide attempt was 11-15-06, and I came to this board 11-29-06. I came out of curiosity, and boredom, while being dead set on finding a free, do-able suicide method. I was obsessed, 24/7, and I'm not exaggerating.

11-29-06 is the day the OBSESSION with suicide began to sputter out a little bit. By mid-January, I was inspired into recovery by the people I met here, and plenty who wrote from the past but are gone from the board.

If this board doesn't serve you a good purpose, leave it be. Local support groups are beyond excellent, many times, and Stepchat.com is a website with AA/Alanon and other support groups. Naranon also offers both in person and online options.

Online groups are JUST AS VALUABLE as in person ones. I know because I don't have any assurance of transportation so online has been my only resource since I quit using in June 2006.

The hard part about getting support, anywhere, is admitting you need it. You sure have done that, and I am so glad you did. Please don't give up if this IS your first post. If you were posting under another name and got no support, I don't know what to say. But as Sherry, you are being heard, loud and clear.

Peace.........

Good morning Sherry!! I just wanted to tell you I am sorry that you feel like know one here cares. You know I am not in recovery but, believe me I deal with the every day addictions. I am here if you need someone to talk to or just to vent. Believe me I can relate mother was/is a addict. I have my own issues that I know that I need to work thru and havent dealt with my own B.S. yet but, always willing to help others. So once again I am sorry that you feel that people on here dont care but, dont get me wrong there is some people like maelyth said that come on here just to get attention and you will find out who those people are but, just bypass them if you not feelin them and dont let it get to you. Well, I hope you keep posting.

but you will find that most people here are supportive and try to be helpful

give it another try and make some friends

this is a good place really

THERE ARE ALWAYS GOING TO BE SOME PEOPLE THAT EACH OF US MAY NOT RELATE TO, BUT ON THE WHOLE THIS IS A VERY FRIENDLY PLACE. WHAT DO YOU MEAN "THEY DON'T CARE". I CARE. SO PLEASE KEEP POSTING AND DON'T GIVE UP ON YOURSELF SO QUICKLY. LOVE MISTY

I was sad to see your post, because I feel like the people on this site have been very helpful. I am here because of my son's addiction, and the people here have been so encouraging and supportive. please don't give up, keep posting and you will get the support you need....by the way, I am from the same state as you-I was born and raised in Great Bend until I was fifteen years old and still consider it my hometown!

Sherry,
I am sorry you feel this way. Many of us here are in recovery and some are still using, true. However we all deal with the same struggles and concerns. We all try to support each other the best we know how. None of us are professional drug counselors here. If you need help you have to ask. No one here is clairvoyant either. One of the first things I learned was that no one can 'make' you feel anything. In the end you are responsible for yourself. Please don't come here and judge us. Instead of focusing on the anger, voice what it is we can do to help you. I would be happy to support you in anyway I can, as I can assure you many others here would. Take Care of yourself and I wish you all the best. Mal

I found this website very helpful and as far as I know almost everyone on here is in recovery. There are a very few who are not and of course we support them, at least I do. Im sorry you had a hard time here. Good luck to you.

You let me down!

Jul 19, 2007 12:07 AM
I have been clean a little over two years. I have watched the show a year and half. It has showed me just how I looked in others eyes. The show has been my main suport, untill I found this website and tried to make friends.Well it seems unless you use or do not have the same story they don't care. Some of you should get clean and read the things you write. It make one feel if the show is make up!
