there is more to the airing dates than meets the eye...
For instance - Hornblower II was shown here in the US in April 2001...but a year later in the UK....
I'm sure there are a lot of issues we do not understand when producing these 'international' movies. And here, some channels hold things up so they can be shown during a certain Emmy year; or they may want to find the right slot when other channels aren't..or ARE showing major releases.
I just thought it a bit foolish to show it at the same time as Masterpiece Theater's remake of Forsyte Saga - since Matthew Rhys' roomie, Ioan Gruffudd (Horatio Hornblower) is in it. A&E knows the strong following he has here on the boards...they should be aware that he would take some of their potential viewers away. (Of course, I managed to watch both....

As long as this is the first time it's been shown here in the US, I have no problem with how they promote it...to me it is new....
