what happened to first Mrs. Farvrae

In the book, she had an epileptic fit induced by the shock of the 'skimmity ride'. This, as the doctor said, meant mischief in her condition. So I suppose she died of complications of her pregnancy caused by the fit. It's interesting that Hardy was specific on the medical cause of her death; it adds to the realism of his writing.

Yess , when she saw what was going on down on the street below,the scene of the two dummies bound wrist to wrist, back to back, if you recall Elizabeth made mention of her delicate disposition earlier in the movie, she couldn't take much in the way of stress...and with her wanting to keep her past just that, her past, she was devastated that the people in the town now knew about her and Henchard...and with that stress she had a misscarriage and died.....woman went through alot back then having children not like with todays technology.....if you remember when Henchard was walking by the Farfrae's door and Donald opened it and greeted Henchard said"they can knock as loud as they like now, for she won't hear it no more."

Dottie Ladner I had to see it twice because I fell asleep just at the part where the crowd was outside her window, but the next time I saw it I came to the same conclusion that she miscarried brought on by the stress of the situation outside her window

First off loved the show, but I have watched it twice and missed what happened to the first Mrs. Farvrae. Did she die in child birth?
